Complete the 60-hour Welding Technology AAS degree and you can earn the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credential, a nationally recognized credential that qualifies students for jobs as structural welders, pipe welders, and maintenance welders. Welding certifications are offered through employers and based on an employer's specific test.

Forging her own path
Leslie Alfaro Figueroa, 22, is forging her own path. From her days fabricating windows to her nights and weekends spent at the Blinn College District’s welding workshop, she knew she was destined for a career working with her hands.
“I used to work on an assembly line that was dominated by men, so that helped break down the obstacles for me and made me less intimidated to pursue welding,” she said.
Program FAQ
The Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology, the Occupational Skills Award, and the Certificate Levels I and II in Welding Technology can be completed on the Brenham or RELLIS Campus.
You may be required to travel to the Brenham Campus to complete individual courses. Please check the course schedule for campus information regarding the course(s) you are planning to take.

Program graduates are qualified for jobs as structural welders, pipe welders, and maintenance welders. Welding certifications are offered through employers and based on an employer’s specific test. Blinn offers programs for welders of all types, from hobbyists looking to learn a new skill to those pursuing an associate degree and a career. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, welders, cutters, solderers and brazers earned a median salary of $47,540 per year in 2022. Welders in select industries have the opportunity to earn significantly more.

Students pursuing the Welding Technology Degree are eligible to apply for Duddlesten Foundation scholarships while funds remain available.
Blinn students also can apply for more than 300 scholarships through the Endowed Scholarship Application.
